UK TB Clearance Certificate
Information for applicants attending Knightsbridge Doctors for UK tuberculosis screening and a TB Clearance Certificate.
Making Your Appointment
Please be aware that depending on the clinical findings at the appointment, there is a requirement for certain individuals to have sputum testing on 3 consecutive days at a facility in central London within 7 days of the initial screening appointment.
The practice is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5.30pm. Please be aware when choosing an appointment time that applicants should attend 30 minutes prior to the booked appointment time to complete necessary paperwork. For instance, an appointment at 3:00pm would mean arrival at 2.30pm. Please note, if you have an early appointment, you will be allowed access into the building only after 9:00am.
This appointment type is solely for individuals seeking a TB Clearance Certificate for entry clearance to go to the United Kingdom.
If you are travelling to another country where a TB test is required, you will have to book an appointment with the practice as a private patient.
If you are required to undergo TB testing for university, school or employment or travel to another country, please read our Pre-University / Employment Assessment page.
For visa medical appointments, please use our online BOOKING FORM and questionnaire.
Group / Family Bookings
If you are booking for more than one person, please select a date with enough available appointments for each of you. You need to book one separate appointment for each person attending. Please try to book consecutive appointments (one-after-the-other) as far as possible. If you are unable to book these, please email our team for assistance at info@knightsbridge-doctors.com.
Please note all appointment prices include a non-refundable fee of £80.00. Additionally, if the cancellation is within 48 hours of the booked appointment, 50 percent of the appointment fee but a minimum of £80.00 will be charged. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the paperwork / administration details are up to date and so the applicant is in a position to have the booked immigration medical examination. Applicants who attend and don't require an Immigration Medical Examination or cancel at short notice will be subject to the Practice cancellation policy.
For Applicants Under 18 Years
Applicants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If there is an issue with a parent or legal guardian attending, please contact the clinic directly as early as possible before an appointment. This will allow clarification of measures that may be required for the immigration medical examination to proceed.
Further information on the health requirements can be found at GOV.UK — TB test for a UK visa.

What To Expect During The Examination
For an individual adult, please allow 1.5 hours from arrival for your appointment. However, we recommend allowing 2 hours in case of unforeseen delays.
The medical itself can involve a physical examination, where the applicant may be required to undress to their underwear whilst wearing a gown.
If you would like a chaperone present during the medical examination, please do not hesitate to request one.
All applicants aged 11 years and above will need a chest X-ray.
Screening will include a medical history and examination. Further screening may be discussed if there are concerns regarding tuberculosis.
If you are pregnant, the Panel Physician will discuss with you the various choices for TB screening.
Children Under 11 Years
Screening of children less than 11 years of age will include a medical history and examination. If there are concerns regarding tuberculosis, the Panel Physician will discuss further screening choices.
Additional Sputum Testing
If the chest X-ray has findings consistent with possible active or old pulmonary TB, sputum testing for pulmonary tuberculosis is necessary.
Where there is no suspicion of active pulmonary tuberculosis, the Panel Physician will issue a TB Clearance Certificate within 2 working days. This will be shared securely with the applicant’s chosen email address.
