Which TB Test Do You Need?
In many cases, a TB Test is required as part of an immigration or educational medical examination.
However, there are several different investigations that may be used to assess for Tuberculosis, and the correct test will depend on the exact requirements of the country or institution.
Mantoux / Tuberculin Skin Test
A skin-based test that may be specified by some countries or educational institutions.
IGRA Blood Test
A blood-based investigation for TB infection where this is the required form of testing.
Chest X-ray
Chest imaging may be requested either on its own or as part of a wider medical examination.
It is essential that we carry out the specific TB investigation requested by the country or educational institution. Please do not assume that one type of TB test can automatically be substituted for another.
