COVID-19 PCR Swab Testing
At Knightsbridge Doctors we are UKAS ISO 15189 accredited to carry out Covid-19 PCR swab tests for Outward Travel from the UK and Day 5 Test to Release.

Preparation for the test:
- COVID-19 PCR swab tests are carried out by swabbing 5 points in the back of the throat and both nostrils, so please ensure you do not eat or drink anything for at least an hour before the test.
- On arrival at the practice you must be wearing a mask or face covering. You will be questioned about symptoms and then admitted and asked to sanitise or wash your hands before you are tested.
- Please remember to bring your Passport along to the appointment so that we can ensure your documents are completed correctly.
Your results should be available within 24-48 hours and will be sent to you by email.
Guidance Notes:
- Please do not attend for your appointment if you have any symptoms of Covid 19.
- For outward travel most destinations require the test to be done within a certain timeframe before departure so please check your requirements and book in accordingly. We do not take responsibility for the timing of your test so please do ensure that you have spoken to your airline before booking and check Gov.UK for the latest guidance at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus.
- Test to Release can only be carried out for patients arriving from amber list countries. Please refer to https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england

Please note, a COVID-19 PCR test is carried out to see if you have a current infection. If you want to know if you were previously infected with COVID-19, you can discuss having an antibody blood test with your doctor.
