Immigration Medical

UK TB Clearance Certificate

Please be aware that depending on the clinical findings at the appointment, there is a requirement for certain individuals to have sputum testing on 3 consecutive days at a facility in central London within 7 days of the initial screening appointment.

1. Making Your Appointment

The practice is open on Mondays to Fridays from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

For visa medical appointments, please use our online BOOKING FORM and questionnaire. Please note, if you have an early appointment, you will not be allowed access into the building until 9:00am. Otherwise, please arrive 30 minutes before your appointment time to allow us to carry out the necessary administration.

Please note Knightsbridge Doctors operate a cancellation policy.  If an immigration medical examination is cancelled within 10 days of the appointment a £50 cancellation charge is incurred.  Additionally if the cancellation is within 48 hours of the booked appointment, 50 percent of the appointment fee will be charged. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the paperwork / administration details are up to date and so the applicant is in a position to have the booked immigration medical examination. Applicants who attend and don't require an Immigration Medical Examination or cancel at short notice will be subject to the Practice cancellation policy.

Further Information on the health requirements can be found at https://www.gov.uk/tb-test-visa

2. What To Bring To Your Appointment

  • Your original Passport or Photo Identity document which contains your photograph (e.g. passport, national ID card, Refugee Asylum Seeker Card)
  • 1x passport style photograph
  • Copies of GP and/or specialist reports, if available, for any significant medical conditions
  • Any clinical records relating to previous TB infection and treatment.

3. What To Expect During The Examination

For an individual adult, please allow 1.5 hours from arrival for your appointment.  However, we recommend allowing 2 hours in case of unforseen delays.

The medical itself can involve a physical examination, where the applicant may be required to undress to their underwear whilst wearing a gown.

If you would like a chaperone present during the medical examination, please do not hesitate to request one

All applicants aged 11 years and above will need a chest X-ray.

If you are pregnant, the Panel Physician will discuss with you the various choices for TB screening.

Screening of children (less than 11 years of age) will include a medical history and examination. If there are concerns regarding tuberculosis, the Panel Physician will discuss further screening choices. If the chest x-ray has findings consistent with possible active or old pulmonary TB, sputum testing for pulmonary tuberculosis is necessary.

Where there is no suspicion of active pulmonary tuberculosis, the Panel Physician will issue a TB Clearance Certificate (within 2 working days). This will be shared securely with the applicant’s chosen email address.
